5 Steps to Becoming a Feline Influencer: The Purrfect Guide
1) Establish Your Brand: Pick a paw-some name and create a visually appealing brand image for your kitty. I chose the name “Eatdrinkcat” as a bit of a play on “Eat, Pray, Love.” A lot of influencers name their account after their cat which is also a good strategy, but you should consider the type of content you’ll be posting. For me, I knew I also wanted to share my life that may not always include pets in all pictures so I went with a broader brand. But the most successful pet influencers tend to focus on building the brand and focus around one specific pet.
2) Snap & Share: Take captivating photos and videos of your feline friend and share them with your followers. Regular posting is key! I try to share a post on a daily basis and create fun and interesting new content all the time. But you should make sure you don’t burn yourself out. Make sure you (and your pets!) are enjoying the process.
3) Connect with Your Audience: Respond to comments, share behind-the-scenes moments, and ask for your followers' input. If you don’t genuinely like chatting with people online you might find that being a pet influencer isn’t for you.
4) Collaborate with Other Pet Influencers: Join forces with other pet influencers to expand your reach and increase your exposure. For Cat influencers, there’s no better networking event than CatCon Worldwide. I met so many of my favorite Cat Influencers and their humans in 2022 including Princess Honey Belle
5) Utilize Social Media: Use platforms like Instagram and TikTok to showcase your cat and grow your following. Optimize your profiles with keywords and hashtags to make it easier for people to find you. Create your own hashtags for your followers by finding new or uncommon hashtags relevant to you! For example, I use the hashtag #eatdrinkcat on all my posts and #31daysofHarleyween for all my Halloween costume posts. That way they’re easier for my followers to find.
